Raiders bounce back, sweep Moberly Area

MOBERLY — The Three Rivers College baseball team bounced back from a weekend sweep at Mineral Area by taking a pair of games Tuesday from the Moberly Area Greyhounds.

The Raiders won the opener 3-1 and the nightcap 18-9.

In the opener, TRC overcame an early 1-0 deficit, tying the game in the top of the second inning, taking the lead in the top of the fifth and adding an insurance run in the top of the seventh.

Caden Crask-Weeks started and earned the win, allowing three hits and one run in five innings of work while striking out five. Jaden Anderson tossed two innings of scoreless relief for the save.

Manny Alberto had three hits on the day, while Peyton Nelson had a pair and Eli Marvin drove in two runs, one on a sacrifice fly.

The Raiders' offense came alive in the nightcap, scoring four runs in the top of the third inning and eight more in the top of the fourth to take a 13-1 lead.

Moberly rallied for two runs in its half of the fourth inning and then scored six more in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 13-9 game, but TRC added five insurance runs in the last two innings to seal the deal.

Nelson, Alberto and Marvin each had three hits in the nightcap, while Trey Fikes added a pair. Marvin, Alberto, Fikes and Mason Krznarich also drove in three runs apiece, while Nicolas Hawkins drove in two.

The Raiders are back in action Friday at Jefferson College in Hillsboro for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
